Title: Flashbulbs
Author: [personal profile] phoenixtears
Characters: Harry, Sirius, Dumbledore
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: [community profile] harry100's "Ending".
Words: 100
Warnings: Grief
A/N: I'm not depressed! ;-)

Flashbulbs go off, as loud as they are bright. Everything is slow – his heart, his steps. There’s no way to shield himself from the public eye, from the inner eye that replays what happened until it is all he sees, until it obliterates the future and obscures the past.

Harry moves through space and time, guided by Dumbledore’s sure hand. A flashbulb goes off just out of sight, striking his peripheral vision pearl-white, like the veil.

In the end, things don’t go black, Harry realizes. Sirius’s death is a blizzard, numbing him cold, blinding him with its mute white, forever.

Title: Oral Restitution
Author: [personal profile] phoenixtears
Pairing: McGonagall/Hermione
Rating: PG-13 for suggestiveness
Words: 200
Summary: Rita Skeeter reports on the disgraced Granger's stint in "detention".
Notes: I got this idea from the prompt at [community profile] harry100, "Witch's Weekly", but there's no Harry in this, so I can't post it there. I'll have to come up with something else evil for them!

Rita Skeeter Reports:
Rigorous, Relevant, Right

It has been determined by Hogwarts insider sources that Miss Hermione Granger has been seen exiting detention every night this week, having spent upwards of two hours with Professor McGonagall, making up for crimes unknown. The usually prim-to-the-point-of-extreme-uninterestingness Granger has never once had any detention with any teacher in the past for any reason, which begs the question of how exactly she has fallen from grace.

Undisclosed sources state that Miss Granger, though suffering hours in the stern-yet-also-uninteresting McGonagall’s office, seems happier than ever, one might even say smug. When approached for further comment, a handsome blond source related that the only negative effect the disgraced Granger seems to suffer is a spectacularly sore jaw, which she can be seen rubbing frequently. Confidential sources confirm that Granger often has difficulty closing her mouth for an hour or more after these strenuous detentions.

One can only speculate at the orations Miss Granger might be forced to recite in these sessions – the oral distress Professor McGonagall is putting this heretofore unremarkable girl through.

Stay tuned for further special reports regarding potential abuses at the Hogwarts School.

This is Rita Skeeter Reporting: Rigorous, Relevant, and always, Right.

Title: Truer Words
Author: [personal profile] phoenixtears
Pairing/Characters: Sirius/Harry, Lupin, Moody
Rating: PG-13
Words: 100 (for the prompt, "It's Complicated" at [community profile] harry100!)
Summary: Lupin calls Sirius on it.
Warning: Inappropriate UST??

Remus looked at him. Sirius refused to look up.

“You kissed him,” Remus said.

“On the cheek.” Sirius practiced a new wand technique.

“You lingered.”

“He blushed.”

“Did he?”

Remus sighed. “What’s going on?”

Sirius flicked his wrist and sent a small rain cloud over Moody’s head across the room. “Amusing,” Moody growled, still reading.

“Well?” Remus prompted.

“Well…” Sirius recalled the smell of Harry’s hair, the shiver as Sirius’s lips had drawn near, the slight whimper only he could hear…. “It’s complicated.”

“You’re in trouble, Sirius,” Remus said and stalked out.

Sirius thought miserably, Truer words….

Title: Through the Veil
Author: [personal profile] phoenixtears
Pairing/Characters: Sirius/Harry -- Sirius, Harry, Lupin
Rating: PG-13
Words: 100 (written for [community profile] harry100's challenge prompt, "Follow".
Warnings: Grief, Suicidality

The veil caught the air, swelled, and then was still. Lupin was holding him. Holding Harry back. He had surged toward that place – the last place he’d seen Sirius, where he’d fallen, where he’d died. Harry twisted, his body bruising where Lupin’s hands gripped and fought him. And he felt himself screaming, his muscles straining, his whole body wrought. There was no fleeting thought for Ron, not one for Hermione, for his life; there wasn’t anything but the gaping loss. Nothing left but the soft veil, and Harry’s every cell, bright with the only desire he had left: to follow.

Title: Masks
Author: [personal profile] phoenixtears
Pairing: Sirius/James UST, James/Lily
Rating: PG-13
Words: 215
Notes: I'm writing a novel-length story and doing a LOT of work today.  I just needed a drabble break!

Sirius Black had slept with many women.  Tall and short, round, thin, black, white, witch and Muggle alike.  He was good at sleeping with women.  He could loose their tongues, wrap their legs around his waist, nibble rakishly at an ear in the dark.

He’d always worn his conquests like adornments, gold and shining.  He wore them like new vests, a fine chain.  He wore them like masks.

All it took was for James to walk in a room.  Sirius could even still smell like the woman he’d been with not an hour ago.  Yet it was all he could do, watching his friend with his new girl, Lily, watching them flirt and then turn that sweetness on him, the one sidling up and taking his arm, Lily…the other leaning in close and whispering in his ear, “Let’s wreak some havoc, shall we?”

All it took was James, and Sirius felt the golden mask slip.  And because he was such a lady-killer, Sirius could get away with sliding a hand around James’s body, pulling him in close, kissing him hard on the mouth to Lily’s giggling delight, and he could whisper back, “Way ahead of you, old friend.”

These were the moments that had slain his soul.

These were the moments he treasured beyond price.
